The primetime Emmy award winning comedy show Schitt’s Creek may have went out with a bang and many tears, but the show’s legacy continues to live on during the holiday season.
Okay, there’s no new Christmas special short or anything (sorry to disappoint), but Calum Shanlin, the series’ digital producer, created a little treat with Schitt’s Creek clips singing Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas is You.
For those of you who don’t know, David Rose, played by Dan Levy, is OBSESSED with Mariah Carey and makes a few notable references to the pop singer throughout the series. David even confesses his love to his boyfriend, Patrick Brewer, by telling Patrick that he’s his Mariah Carey.
Digital producer Shanlin posted his wonderful Christmas celebration on Instagram with the infamous title, “All I want for Christmas is you, bébé.” The title is a joke reference to Moira Rose’s, played by Catherine O’hara, accent which is a strange mix up of the old Mid-Atlantic accent that dominated Hollywood a hundred years ago.
Calum did such an amazing job that Mariah Carey, the queen herself, commented on the post. She gave her approval, commenting, “I love it I love it I love it I love it I love it!!! Did I mention I love it? LOL.”
Maybe because of this little creation we’re going to get the actual cast in-character singing the hit Christmas song? Or perhaps this is a little hint to a very secret, very special Christmas special coming our way? Fingers crossed!
