It seems money can’t buy happiness for Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the history of the world.
After Scott and Bezos’ divorce in 2019, Scott has been living a private life out of the limelight of the money she inherited from the divorce settlement which was 4% of Amazon’s stock, or $53 billion. Even during Scott’s time with Bezos, she had remained out of her ex-husband’s luxurious life as much as she possibly could.
It is no surprise then that a woman with less of a penchant for the limelight than her ex-husband, has quietly remarried to a high school science teacher, Dan Jewett. It is unknown when the couple married or how they met, but there is no unknown as to what they plan to do with the $53 billion Scott acquired from her divorce.
After the remarriage, according to the nytimes, just last year alone Ms. Scott announced nearly $6 billion in “grants and gifts” last year.
Since then, she has given to Y.M.C.A. chapters, food banks, historically Black colleges and universities, donations to organizations that support women’s rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and climate change and racial inequities.
Ms. Scotts and Jewett have joined the ranks of other billionaires who have joined The Giving Pledge, an organization established by Bill Gates, his Wife, Melinda, and Warren Buffet where signatories agree to give away the vast majority of their wealth.
According to People, Scott joined The Giving Pledge just after her split from Bezos. Perhaps a way to start off with more humble beginnings in her new, married life with Jewett.
