There is NO excuse this year. We can ALL attend the annual Lambda Literary Awards, the awards ceremony for the best LGBTQ+ writing.
Lambda announced the finalists in 24 different literary categories for their annual awards ceremony. Over 60 judges, literary professionals who “spent countless hours considering a record-breaking number of submissions, judged the books.
“By celebrating LBTQ+ books we celebrate LGBTQ+ life,” said Sue Landers, Executive Director of Lambda Literary. “As a community often under legislative and actual violence, the Lammys offer a necessary space to come together in joy.”
This year the 33nd annual Lammys will be held on Tuesday, June 1, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The ceremony will feature a performance by Meshell Ndegeocello, along with other guests including Alan Hollinghurst, Carmen Maria Machado, Torrey Peters, Cyrée Jarelle Johnson, Ryan O’Connell, JP Brammer, Katherine V. Forrest, and more.
The event is technically free, although a suggestion of a $25 contribution is requested. The event will also be live captioned and offer ASL interpretation. Here is a link to sign up now, https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2021-lambda-literary-awards-the-lammys-tickets-141430280777
