So it turns out that comedian John Mulaney and actress Olivia Munn welcomed their son, Malcolm, into our world around Thanksgiving and chose Christmas Eve to release his first image to the world.
If you are just emerging form a COVID coma, our celebrity-watching world was rocked this spring when Mulaney announced that he was going into rehab for alcohol and drugs, and when he came out he went on good friend and former SNL-pal Seth Meyer’s late night show to inform us that he was leaving his wife and had hooked up with Olivia Munn, and they were going to have a baby. This was somewhat earth-shattering news because Mulaney’s comedy shtick had been that he was totally enthralled with his wife and they were never going to have kids. But hey, who thought we’d all be working from home for two years?
On Xmas Eve, Munn posted an Instagram photo showing her sleeping one-month old son wearing a baby blue beanie and swaddled in a fluffy white blanket
"My Golden Ox baby. Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. Happy Holidays," she wrote.
John Mulaney joined in on Instagram as well, posting another image of his son, "Meet Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn't even tried seltzer yet. I'm very in love with him and his whole deal. Happy Holidays."
Gossips had speculated that there were problems between the pair, but their joint baby announcement seems to indicate that all is well for the holidays.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column, the child’s middle name, Hiệp, is Vietnamese as Munn’s mother is from Vietnam and of Chinese descent.
