As many of you know by now, I LOVE Galentine’s Day.
What I once thought if as a made-up holiday from Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope on Parks & Recreation is now one of my favorites.
What’s Galentine’s Day you ask? In the words of Leslie Knope, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast- style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” For me, it’s like Seinfeld‘s George Costanza’s Festivus for the rest of us.
This year, even though those of us on the East Coast are snowed in, my friends and I are going to zoom watch our own 20th anniversary showing of You’ve Got Mail (a movie that has become a relic of its time in only two decades!) while eating waffles piled high with whipped cream (the suggested Galantine’s meal on Parks and Rec).
