Native American Artist Veregge Re-Interprets Marvel Characters for Indigenous People’s Day
As most of us are ware, today is a holiday that is evolving from what was once called Columbus Day and is now shifting todays Ingenious People’s Day. But how to celebrate?
One way is to reexamine the way we look at what is “American.” Marvel has been working to extend its branding to a more diverse representation and in doing so announced a new series in August MARVEL’S VOICES: INDIGENOUS VOICES #1. The NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE TRIBUTE VARIANT COVERS will showcase Dani Moonstar, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor.
Jeffrey Veregge who just wrapped up his exhibition Jeffrey Veregge: Of Gods and Heroes at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, also lent his talents to produce an extraordinary series of variant covers depicted in Veregge’s iconic artistic Formline style.
Here are some of the re-imagined images. Personally, I love Iron Man and Spider Man, but Black Panther is pretty cool too.
