After watching last night’s debate I desperately needed something that would lift my spirits so I stumbled on a number of articles about the filming of the latest version of Cinderella that has gone back into production in the U.K. after a Coronavirus pause. This new version, with a story created by Late Late Show talk show host James Corden, is written and directed by Perfect Pitch director Kay Cannon, and stars pop star Camila Cabello. Not only that, but pop sensation Billy Porter is set to play the fairy Godmother, and comedians John Mulaney and James Corden will be footmen and mice, so this certainly promise to is be different than some of the previous iterations.
Idina Menzel, who was the voice of Elsa in Disney’s Frozen, will play the stepmother and Nicholas Galitzine will play the role of Prince Robert (I know, we were all wishing for real-life boyfriend Shawn Mendes). Other performers in the film include Minnie Driver, Pierce Brosnan and Missy Elliott
Cabello is also participating in the writing of the music, which we hope can only be as memorable as the Rogers and Hammerstein version we grew up with, or the Disney songs of our childhood.
The film is slated for a February 20121 release, but who really knows about that?
