Today is May the fourth or otherwise known as official Star Wars day, a holiday that began in 1979 as a play on the phrase “may the force be with you.”
It’s the first Star Wars day with the close of the Skywalker saga that began on May 25th, 1977 with Star Wars: A New Hope and ended on December 20th, 2019 with Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Though, despite the three-trilogy story coming to a close it hasn’t stopped Disney nor fans from celebrating through the force.
For the day, Disney has released three very special goodies for fans to binge and enjoy for the day. First, Disney has released Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker early on their new streaming platform, Disney+.
Alongside the early release of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Disney has also released The Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian; an eight-episode documentary series that shows you a behind-the-scenes of your favorite Mandalorian and his adopted fan-favorite son, baby Yoda.
Finally, Disney has released the final episode of the famed computer-animated series, The Clone Wars. The episode “Victory and Death” will conclude the show’s climactic four-part finale, a story arc that follows Ahsoka Tano through the infamous siege of Mandalore; a story arc for which fans have waited six years.
Now we understand here at Romance Daily News that you may be quarantined alone, or may be the only Star Wars fan in your household, so we got you covered. To make sure that fans are not alone in their celebrations Reedpop, the organizers of New York Comic con, are hosting a virtual two-day Star Wars event titled “An Online Revelry: May the 4th Be With You” and “Revenge of the fifth.” You can visit here for the schedule. Events include live-tweeting on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels episodes, as well as Star Warsfilms while also hosting Q&A sessions with writers and voice actors of Star Wars.
Fans of all ages can get in on the celebrations, even the younger generations, with some arts and crafts. Children can craft Admiral Ackbar bag puppets, Bantha toys, Jabba the Hutt body pillows, Chewbacca tablet cover and more with some easy tutorials here.
So despite the pandemic, fans have a slew of ways to surround themselves with the force and the many adventures it has pulled us through throughout the years.
Remember: the force surrounds us, binds us even in times when we are separated, safely quarantined in our homes.
May the force be with you!
